Haveing trouble with a moonstone brain coral!!!

they are just hit and miss at least that is how they have been for me. they need to be spot fed to keep them happy. I have never really had much luck with them. IMO I would have waited a little longer for the tank to stable before putting it in there. just keep that water clean and try to feed him. good luck keep us posted. he is pretty that is for sure.

Little update!! The spots went away and have not returned. I did another 5 gal water chang but this time I used reef crystals instead instant ocean salt.
He looks pretty healthy and is feeding good. Brains are such pigs!!! I have the other one and he ate so much on the first night in the tank that he has not fully extended since!!!

instant ocean and reef crystals whitch is better

I have read that a lot of people prefer the reef crystals over regular instant ocean. Suposedly it has more calcium and more trace elements than the IO even though they are made by the same company.

if they are different but made by the same company then it is probably a generic thing like cereal and stuff kelogs has to put out so much generic cereal for every so much reglar kellogs cereal they put out

No it is just a different formula for different needs from a FOWLR to a reef.

The reef crystals are for the reef, instant ocean is more geared towards FOWLR!!
