I know that some feed their acans and some do not. I am one that feeds them once or twice a week. I would typically feed twice per week however I have noticed that mine seem to be rather opportunistic feeders. I have a lord that has been consuming dwarf cerith snails on a regular basis. So, the question is are others finding that acans are opportunistic and will consume things that you wouldn't think they'd consume? I find it strange but this one lord colony has consumed at least 3 or 4 dwarf cerith snails in the last 3 weeks!? And, it eats regularly when I feed other corals. Is this normal behavior for them?
Wow! Those snail must not be too smart if they're crawling into an acans mouth, perhaps this is a prime example of natural selection! Do you have any pics... because that would be cool to see.
Mine will grab food that floats by, but they have never (to my knowledge) gotten anything else.
I got a pic just before the lights went out. Here it is....look at the bottom of the photo and you can see the snail hanging out of the polyp. The photo sucks, as do my photography skills, but you get the idea.
