Default Anyone ever heard of a Lavendar Tang?

I tripped over a website the other day and they displayed a Lavendar Tang. http://www.marinecenter.com/fish/tangs/lavendertang/ has anyone seen or heard about them? I'd love to learn more about them because it might just be the one tang we get!

Sounds like a nice little fish. I might keep an eye for one too.

I have seen the Lavendar Tang, but to be honest that is not a very good picture of one. The spots on it's face and and back towards it's dorsel are a golden color with it's body a darker lavendar, my dad had one in the 60's and I remember my dad getting made at that fish because it would not leave his black coral alone. The Lavendar Tang must like the color red cause it would also pick on my dad's pipe organ coral.

I found a better picture for you to look at, it is close to the bottom of the following web site: (The one on the right side is very close to what I remember seeing.

Well, now I'm confused, Bob. LOL The site that I found the fish for sale on listed it as Ctenochaetus rigofuscos and your site (really awesome site, btw, I even put it on my favorites list) lists it as Acanthurus nigrofuscus geeze! It is a pretty fish, though, isn't it! Thanks for the information you gave about it nipping corals etc. I really appreciate the info.

I am wanting to know how large it gets, what it likes to eat, things like that. Thanks, Bob, for your helpful input!

Anybody else? MORE MORE!!!!

OK I found the error. That site that I saw the fish on had the WRONG SPECIES it's not Ctenochaetus it's Acanthurus. NOW I can find info on it. Thanks for all your efforts everyone!

Over all the years that I have been doing saltwater I have seen pictures of the same fish by with a different name. I don't think all of the author's use the same name for the same fish. We must all remember that things are changing everyday in the marine hobby and new ideas and fish are being found all of the time. So I myself just go with the name of the fish that is used the most often and do my research from that name used the most. And Hummer you are correct fish change their colors all the time from baby to adult.
