    Default Bluespot Acclimation

    Getting a Bluespot Jawfish :D

Any thoughts on quaranteen and aclimation for these? I would normally QT for 4-6 weeks, but due to the burrowing nature I'm not sure that is best. On the otherhand, I'll be ticked if my other fish catch anything.

If you QT make sure they have a sand bed to burrow in or they will stay stressed and try to jump.

I agree with Mike, They need a burrow to be happy.

Well, that would need buying sand or, I guess crush coral would be fine to use in the QT; which ever is less expensive.

Think QT is necessary with these? It's been a long while since I purchased a new fish.

It depends on how well you trust the source, how long the LFS had it and how well they keep there tanks etc... I say you can never be too safe...

Well, I got the little guy yesterday. Pretty cool fish. He is resting in QT right now, I filled a good sized tupperware bowl with sand and placed some live rock in the QT to try and calm him, though he is hiding in the back corner of the tank right now.

Don't put him in the tank until you get that mesh cover made. I've heard to many unhappy endings with jawfish and uncovered tanks.

He should be fine in a small container with rubble. Preuss uses those and the fish live in them for quite a while sometimes before being sold.

Think it would be better to put him in a smaller container with sand in the 10 gallon QT rather than having free roam?

BTW, I am also going to try and figure out how to block off the back of the canopy with two layers of black screen in order to block any exit and to block some of the light that spills into the rest of the house. I was thinking of just using eggcrate and glueing the screen to it. I wonder if your mesh screen idea but just using regular black screen would be better?

Where are your instructions on making the cover?
