can fish have allergies?

well.. the title sounds like a joke but i really want to know the answer to this question, can fish get allergies and please explain. humans and dogs/cats etc... have allergies so i don't see why fish wouldn't but i have no proof to back it up.

What kind of allergies are we talking? Food allergies? Possible I suppose but the immune system problem that would cause those likely would kill the fish first. Obviously I'm not a biologist or anything so I couldn't tell you any specifics but that would be my opionion.

yeah food allergies, allergies to certain chemicals we add to our tanks, oils from our hands just whatever, i am just curious to see if it is possible because i have not heard of it yet

Food allergies seems possible, rare, but possible. Chemicals, could definitely be possible, who knows maybe that plays a part in stores especially losing fish that come in wild caught... who would do the autopsy to prove thats what it is ya know, so I could see that as possible even really, again unlikely/rare sure but possible. Most of these allergies I am sure would kill the fish before it ever made it to any of us tho
