    Default Close call this morning!

Wednesday is my day to sleep in,woke up to the sound of a large fish jumping out of the aquarium onto the floor...of course it was my 12" Super Male blue Throat and of course it was the back of the tank which gave me little access to him. I finally was able to push him out and plop him back in the tank so who knows if he will make it but he is still breathing just really stressed out. he was probably out of the water for 5 minutes! project for today get off my butt and build covers for the aquarium

Nice grab. What are you going to use to build tops that will hold big strong fish like that?

the canopy is enclosed on 3 sides...the back being the only space to escape...ill probably put a thin strip of eggcrate along the back so if he jumps he can rattle around a bit inside the canopy and go back in the tank.

    As another option..
I have used fiberglass screen material in the past. Using simple staple gun to install it. Its also easy to cut holes for electrical wires and return lines if needed.

im not sure i would trust anything fiberglass around my reef tank..any part of that gets broken off and gets in that tank..not sure what it would do to the tank inhabitants.

Im talking about fiberglass screen material you would use to repair a window screen. Pretty doubtfull any of it would break off. I used it to close the back of my canopy without any issues on my prior tank and it worked well and was easy to install.

I closed off the back of my canopy with gutter guard.
