    Default Disappearing Yellow Coris Wrasse

So, while thinking of what to do to bring some yellow into my tank, I decided to get a yellow coris wrasse. Day 1 was yesterday and he ate like a pig, was very cordial with his tank mates, and was in general very active. Woke up this morning and he is nowhere to be found. I did a WC today and still, no luck finding him......any ideas??

Great fish btw....I just with I know WTH it is!

And no, it's not on the floor.....checked that several times already.

    You have a sand bed?

Coris wrasses burrow under the sand. Often times they will disappear when first introduced to the tank. Sometimes they don't reappear but most times they do. Wrasses can be shy fish until they get acclimated to their surroundings.

I do have a sand bed. I understand that they exhibit this behavior and have considered it a possibility. As I mentioned previously, there was no shyness so to speak after introduction yesterday. I will keep you posted if / when I see him.

When I got mine I was sure it was gone for 3-4 weeks then it suddenly re-appeared. It is doing great now.

    Good Luck

The one I had slept in the sand. They take the dive into the sand bed sometime during the blue lights and come out in the morning. I had one for years, till he took the leap. They are great at pest control, and are really fun to watch when they dive into their sandbedroom.
