I do think Dilly's eyes are much bigger then his mouth~LOL~he held on to this piece of whatever (Rods food fish only) for about 15 minutes before he finally let it go. He was not happy about it either. Don't gotta worry about him eating that's for sure.
Although Dilly eats good, I'm concerned he's still to skinny looking. I've been surfing the web looking at pictures of the Target Mandarins and most if not all show very little of the bone running down the side. Is Dilly under weight?

lol...you worry a lot. He looks fine to me. He is maintaining his weight isn't he? I would be more concerned about the MM under him in the last picture.
Yeah I was worried about the MM's big time...been going round en round as to how to remove them. He stays pretty much clear of them though. The pic makes him look closer then he really is :)
I do worry a lot about this fish. So many horror stories been told to me about them starving to death :(
Here is an idea that works for me and may save you a ton of money. I fed some herring eggs, which I feed often to my anthias ($2.35 at the japanese food store for a months supply) my new mandarin went crazy eating them. They were both fly around eating them. They would only eat the ones that landed in the sand or on the rocks but they were fat pigs after.
That's gonna be a problem. So far I've yet to see Dilly eat ANYTHING off the rock or substrate, this includes pods. I've been target feeding him since I got him. However I'm willing to try. Would be nice to get him to eat aside from me target feeding him :)
I may have created a monster out of my own fear :(
@Chort: I'm not adding junk! Just trying something new once in a while :) I can't add fish nor corals sooooo I gotta add something-LOL
I didn't want you to go with me but for me as we don't have a PetCo anywhere near us-ahdah!! See how well you listen to me :( lol
I saw the pics, very nice!
Worth a shot. I just fed again, I know I know film it, Both mandarins came flying out of the rocks and were grabbing eggs as fast as they could. This could be the answer to keeping these amazing fish!
Today is Dilly's 11th week in my tank! Attachment 5325
