The best part with the swalesi is you don't have to be a rich guy in Thailand to get one...Preuss has had a couple in stock...it's a cool fish for sure.
I think candy basslet is the same as swalesi?
Not to say they are "cheap" fish. It still would make my wallet sting if I bought one...but I doubt Reef Builders would write an article about it. :waiting:

As mentioned the L.A. pic posted is a Liopropoma carmabi (Candy Basslet). They generally retail $800-1,000 each. The Liopropoma swalesi generally retails around $100. I'm a big fan of the Swalesi basslet personally, they have a unique coloration to them, whereas the Candy Basslet is almost gaudy bright (of course, still beautiful!).
I thought of you Rob when I saw Ching picked these up, they are a very, very nice fish!
Ah I see Liopropoma swalesi verus carmabi. The swalesi seems to be referred to as a pacific candy basslet on a lot of sites.
