Default powder blue tang vs blue hippo?

I have noticed that the majority of blue tangs that I have seen at the LFS tend to come down with ick, some die and some get sold anyway. The LFS said that because the blue tang has a thin slime coat they are more prone to ick. I had him hold a blue tang for me, but today I went in and it wasn't looking so good. (not swimming much and just kinda sitting between a couple rocks-also has ick now and is pretty thin) I noticed that I could buy a powder blue tang from live aquaria for about the same price and I know they have a good guarantee. Any thoughts on whether the powder blues are even harder to keep or if they are better.

I have never had a powder blue but I have heard that they are very hard to keep. I had a hippo and she got ich a few times but not too bad. It was cured with hypo and garlic.
Does water always taste like salt and poo????

I would not buy a tang online, just my opinion. When you buy a tang ask them to feed it, to see if it eats. This is a MUST. 2nd wait a day or two and ask them again. Ich usually is not that bad depending on your tank and garlic will usually kill it. I have a yellow & hippo. The yellow never got ich but the hippo did (very light) I heard that high temps + garlic = dead ich and it worked. Yes powder blues are usually way harder to keep.
55 Gallon. One year old, and looking SUPER.

My LFS has actually told me NOT to buy a powder blue because 1) they often get ich too easily and 2) they tend to get aggressive and harrass other fish to the point of death. I cannot say if this is true or not, but for now, I have decided to follow the advice of my LFS.
