Update: Sadly my Tangaroa Goby has since passed away and yes I cried. He was my very first SW fish and quit the character. He is missed daily, especially now that his buddy Randalls Pistol shrimp is left all alone.
So it's the Orange Fire Fish that takes the longevity spot.

I have a pair of Pajama Cardinals that I took from another reefer because he had to tear down his tank and they were in a 55 gallon can. I sadly do not like these fish even though they are very pretty and huge. They do not let me keep shrimp in my tank. I bought the biggest peppermints I could find and as soon as they hit the water, the Cardinals grabbed them like a tasty morsel. One of the carried it around the tank in his mouth sideways like a cat does a mouse for about 30 minutes. I was so mad and really, like, how do you YELL at a FISH!?
If I could catch them and get them out of the tank, I would rehome them. I discovered today that they eat a lot of pods so that is probably why I can't keep my pod population up even though I have a good refugium. Frustrating. When i took them I didn't realize this.
They are a little over 8 years old if I remember right.I have had them for 1 1/2 years now. There were 3 smaller ones that came with them but these got really big and started picking on the others until they died.

Mine is my coral beauty, 9 yrs. one of my original fish, the other, a clownfish died a couple of months ago. Emperor of the tank, he challenges all newcomers, including when I put a queen angel in the tank he would dart in and out of the rocks and attack for over a week. Now I have a hand mirror I put in front of the tank to distract him for a couple of days while the new fish settles in.
