Today I bought a yellow tang. I have had a QT set up for - oh... nine months or longer - I'm not sure exactly. Anyway, it is only a 10g tank. The tang is about 4" long, and though he acclimated well, seems very restless already.
At the LFS he was in one of those 180 deg. tanks with who knows how many other yellow tangs ( a boat-load for sure), about 8 dragon gobies, and 2 other fish (forgive me, I can't remember now what they were - plain non-descript fish). Now my poor little tang is crammed into this tiny box. He shows no signs of HLLE, but his belly is a little shrunken (because of the curved glass of the store's tank, I didn't notice until I got him home and into QT ).
Here are my options (if you all can suggest others, please do):
1. Keep him in the 10g QT for at least two weeks before putting him in the 90g.
2. Put him in my 20g (established- over a year) and face the likelihood of having to tear it apart when it's time to move him to the 90.
3. Go ahead and put him in the 90 and hope for the best (I do have a UV sterilizer tucked away), and pray that he doesn't get sick and cause the demise of my reef.
I appreciate any and all suggestions you may have!
