    Thought I'd throw up some pics of the tank. It's a mixed reef that's just over a year old. Not much coralline yet, but starting to show up in a few spots.

    T5HO bulbs with one row of DIY LEDs from Steve's. Apex controller with 4x JBJ 1,600 gph power heads. Still messing with the various timings to get the random action I want.

    Enjoy.

    How is it doing with the transition?

    Here's params from last night.

    SG = 1.025
    pH = 8.34
    Ca = 470 (working that down to 450-460)
    Mg = 1410
    Alk = 8.7

    I'm one of those all or nothing kind of people and this hobby is perfect for plunging in neck deep (or further).

    Those are great numbers. Are you dosing anything? What salt mix are you using?

    Using RC salt. I'm dosing bicarbonate manually right now. I bought the BRS kalkwasser kit that came with kalk, calcium chloride, and sodium bicarbonate. I thought I'd just dose with kalk, but my alk numbers come down much faster than my calcium, so I may need to scrap that plan for now.

    Glad to hear the spongodes is coloring up.

    We were just talking about that very subject on another of my threads. I too am loosing alk much faster then CA. Some suggest Kalk in my ATO water but I'm afraid-lol so for now I'm just using the BRS ALK part of the 2 part. But eventually I know I'll need to make a decision. Definitely cant afford dosing pumps

    I'm kind of wishing I would have went 2 part from the beginning, but I'm stuck with a big tub of bicarbonate now.
