    Default Sean's 10G Nano Reef

Hi, everyone. It's been a while since I've posted on here. I've decided to downgrade my 29g to a 10G AIO. I'm doing this for two reasons: (1) ease of care and (2) so i can take it with me to college. I will be using most of the equipment from my 29g tank which will be transferred (along with all corals) once the cycle is complete.

This will be an LPS dominant reef tank, with a mix of sfties and some SPS as well. Right now, I have approximately 20 corals that will be going into this tank, and 5 more that will be here momentarily while my sister gets her new tank set up.

I have in the tank right now...

    5.5 lbs sand
    5 lbs live rock
    Taam Rio+ 200 pump

I am at my sister's house for the summer and will be moving this tank into my dorm when school starts. Once the cycle is over in a few weeks I will take equipment from the old 29g (at my Dad's house) and install it on this one.

    4 lbs live rock
more established sand from 29 gallon
all snails/crabs currently in 29 gallon
    2 Hydor Koralia 425 pump(s)
2 Boost par30 LED bulbs, (3 royal blue / 2 cool white diodes, 60* optics)
    Architect's style lamps

I will be purchasing a new heater, dosing supplements, and coral propagation tools.

    Aquarium Pharmaceuticals RENA 50w heater - $26
Coral Frenzy coral food - $13
    Brightwell Aquatics Reef Code A - $7.40
    Brightwell Aquatics Reef Code B - $7.40
    0.5cc, 1cc, 3cc medical syringes from Drs. Foster & Smith - $0.83

(4x) 4oz container LocTite superglue gel (for gluing corals)
JB Water Weld epoxy (for gluing corals)

I need build a gravity-fed ATO before i move into the dorms too.

    3gal. plastic water jug

    Livestock.

    yellow clown goby
    porcelain crab
    sexy shrimp (x3)
    clam

    Corals I have

    red montipora cap. (6" x 3")
    red monti cap frag (1" x 1.5")
    button polyps
    zoanthids (x7)
    acan lobo
    acan echinata (x2)
    frogspawn (x5 heads)
    chalice (x2)
    pavona (x2)
    blastomussas
    blue clove polyps
    green star polyps (x3)

    Corals I want

    superman monti
torch coral - purple or green
    strawberry shortcake acropora
    acropora millepora red planet
    acropora efflorescens
    short tentacle fungia plate coral
    baby's breath chalice
    various other chalice
    acan echinata / acan lords

Hi, Jamie. Yes, this will be my first year.

The 29g will be left up for a few more months...Just while my sister gets her 7g nano tank cycled. Some of the frags are doubles from the main 'colony' and these extras will be left in the tank for her.

But the plan is to eventually completely shut down the 29. I will just have a Boost par30 bulb left over that I won't need (40* optic, 4 royal blue/2 cool white diodes); an extra Koralia 425 pump, 15-20 lbs live rock, and a mag drive 7.5 pump. Equipment all works fine. I am leaning toward selling some of it (the LR and mag drive for sure, not sure about the koralia and boost led). If you are interested, just let me know.

    Default change in plans

Thank you. I have decided it will be best not to take the tank with me. When I've already had some issues with it and I do'nt even have coral in the tank yet.

Something happened (use of lime juice to kill aiptasia, stirring the sandbed, or a combination of both) that caused a mini cycle in my tank. Then I moved it again before I built the cabinet because I moved back to my dad's (long story) until school starts. I will be waiting about a week until I add coral to this tank to be sure my parameters are in line. I'm testing every few days and will transfer things when ready.

I added a bunch of snails yesterday though to clean up some of the algae/detritus in the tank.

I hope I can get a trio of sexy shrimp, but I don't know if I will be getting any fish, as I will not be home ot care for the tank. Corals are fairly easy and you don't have to do much with them.

Running a skimmer, but yeah, no sump.

I also switched out the Taam rio 200 for two Koralia 425 pumps so all equipment is black.
