    Default Sean's 29G Reef Tank

Hello, everyone. I am a member of several forums, but joined because I know some people on here that are close. I have a 29g reef tank with 10g sump. Today I just got my lights!

    A bit of info...

    29G display
    10G sump (holding 6 gallons)
Danner Mag Drive 7 return pump
Hydor Slim Skim Nano protein skimmer
    Hydor Koralia Nano 425 (x3)
    Taam Rio+ 200 (114gph)

    Boost LED gen. 1 par30s
    - 3 royal blue/2 cool white (2)
    - 4 royal blue/1cool white (1)

I currently have just 4 corals...some gsp, a frag of king midas zoas, a small piece of orange monti cap, and a small colony of green birdsnest.

Are you just now setting this tank up? The reason I ask is you might want to check out the nano contest that is starting up soon.

The tank actually turned 1 year old on the 4 of Jan. But I just got my LEDs today.

Thanks. When is the deadline for the contest?

I will be going to Frag-A-Thon on Jan. 20, and might go to the Lansing swap on the 29th.

    Thanks!

    It's picture time.

This is what the tank looked like several days ago, with my crappy lights.

Last summer, I added the sump. Here it is during leak testing.

    I used to run a Coralife 125 (long-story short, I replaced it).

I love my slim skim much better.

Oh look. Oceanic was nice enough to send me a new skimmer body to replace the one that leaked. Too bad it was over a week after I already got a new skimmer from MD.

    Hello, mr. crabs.
    DSCN4775 - Sean's 29G Reef Tank

For a while, I had 2 pacific cleaner shrimp. They didn't last more than about 3 weeks. They had bopryds (parasitic isopods), which I hadn't noticed until I brought them home from the store. I was going to remove the bopryds, but could never catch the shrimp.

I met up with a guy from the Cleveland forum and got the corals I have now.

Then I got some zoanthid-eating nudis. Happy little guys at this time.
    DSCN4723 - Sean's 29G Reef Tank

Then they died by freezing. I dumped the small cup of water on my back porch. lol.

I made a cool little diy coral viewer. 3" pvc and 1/8" acrlyic. Works great.
    photobucket 3913 1323500902595 - Sean's 29G Reef Tank

My orange monti cap started browning out (expected), and then got stn (not so expected).
    DSCN4792 - Sean's 29G Reef Tank

So I dipped it using tincture of iodine. Lesson learned.
    photobucket 3685 1325128886875 - Sean's 29G Reef Tank

Now I have the correct medication to dip next time.

I would like to get some of these guys from John at Reef Cleaners.

I am hoping to build a new stand within the next few months. It should look something like this, minus the door pulls which detract from the beautiful grain of zebra wood. I am going to use magnet catches on the doors, instead.
