I started this tank wen i was in high school it has been running for about 10 years now, had under gravel filter in bottom of tank that i never took out so now i found out that in have to rip hole tank down and clean sand with cold water to get rid of slim problem. becuz the stuff under it is seeping through the substrate. so from wat i hear that is wat my problem is talked to alot of ppl that told me that was the problem with running one but was even bigger problem cuz i capped it off and took tubes out like year ago. i all ways had that slim growing and now i have finely pin pointed what was causing.. so i plan to take it down and pray that i dont loose any fish or coral in the process but kno that it needs to be done for me to fix nitrate and phosphate problem and have healthy happy tank... emperor 400 2 1050 powerheads sea colon protein skimmer lights 4t5 2 blues 2 10k, 10 led's no sump yet plans to in the future, but due to tank size its gonna be a tricky build, but will be completed by the end of the summer
wats up boss man, sorry havent checked this thread in a min, kinda bad with that, but finely fig out the prob.. i use to have underground filter and i caped it off and never took it out the tank. and i think that all the stuff is coming back up through the sand cuz thats only place i really get any slim growing so gona rip tank down and pull that thing out and hopefully that should fix prob cuz i never loose fish or anything and the frags i put in the tank are going crazy double in size in the last two months sense i got the t5 lights..
kinda updated the thread cuz felt bad not giving enough information on it but will post new pics as me and my girl add to it, plan on get'in a yellow and blue tang. i want to get the hole finding nemo set up for the kids and i get to pick the coral for the tank and design of the rocks will be done by me every fish will be picked out by the kids and my old laddie

I got everything finely balanced and the tank kinda fixed it self. wish i could say i did lot to fix problems that i had but really i just left it alone for 4 weeks and did water change and can see big difference it the over all of the tank.
