Hey everyone! I have not been on the site for some time. I had a 75gal reef set up with a sump. 300w metal halide and flourescent lamps. 200+ lbs. of live rock etc. I kept mostly soft corals, but was making some headway into acro's when I had a massive out break of the bubble algae. Long story short I completely dis mantled the setup and reconsidered the whole hobby. I was so bummed and ****ed I also got rid of my 10 gal nano. as well. Since the I built a koi/water garden pond in the backyard. Multi tiered waterfall 11x23 ft in dimesions. Avg depth less than 3ft. It's doing great but somethings missing. I am starting to feel like maybe I want to build a nano. again. So would you please talk me out of it. And if not would you make suggestions about getting started again. Be gentle..
That's great you built the koi/water garden but the question is......are you going to be outside in the winter when it's 20 below admiring it? Or will you be in your nice warm house enjoying your reef?
Nanos can be great if you are trying to save some coin. However you are limited with what you can keep. The 75 is the way to go due to you already having everything. Bigger is better!
Don't do it You you have the 75? Set that up, there will be no regretting bigger... but they say you always want a bigger tank so I am thinking that a nano isn't gonna cut it for you.
