Default voltz7320's 50 mixed reef upate

So awhile ago I posted "Josh's 50 start up ideas" and this is an update to that thread. Since then I have added another 20lbs of live rock and changed my aqua scape completely. I ran into a few problems with a carpet anemone that was eating everything in the tank(about$200 worth of fish). I also added added a lot of new corals. At the bottom of this post I will add the original thread mentioned above so I don't have to repeat everything about the hardware of this setup.

    Zoas:
    1 TECO Pink Nebulas
    2 Dragon Eyes
3 Greenbay Packers & Radio Active Dragon Eyes Combo
    4 Blue Daisies
    5 Posideons Armor
And a couple other varieties I cant remember their names.

    This is the old post:

I haven't had a tank in a few years and I got this 55 for free so decided to try a reef tank again. It's a 55 gallon tank with a 20 gallon sump and a 100 gallon in sump skimmer. The return pump creates 700gph of water flow and I have a 750gph power head that disrupts the flow so different areas of the tank have different amounts of water flow. For lighting I have a 165 watt Apollo LED fixture that in my opinion was well worth the money, I have had the tank set up for only a month and have had huge coraline algae growth and everything in the tank is vibrant and healthy. Right now I have a zoo colony and a colony of green metallic star polyps. For fish and inverts a fire fish, gold banded maroon clown, large green true carpet anemone, decorator crab, 2 sand sifting starfish, lots of different crabs and snails, lots of feather dusters, and several other things that I'm not sure what they are, came on the live rock. The carpet anemone was a bad idea as it has taken over a large portion of the tank floor.

Good start, I too started with a 55g. However Anemones are a bad choice for a new tank, not saying it cant be done, but it shouldn't. Especially carpets, giganteas and magnificas, as you well know they eat fish. Also the carpets like a deep sand bed for their footing.

ps most of the pics are not showing
150g 1" acrylic Sps reef mp40 and 4 k4s for flow. Aquaeuro 400 skimmer and 135 calcium reactor. 2 250w radiums on galaxy ballasts.

Very nice looking tank. What kind of flow do you have in this tank?

I have An aqeon return pump rated at 750gph,a power head by karden or something like that not sure of the name without looking at it but its about 750gph to, and an older power head that I'm not sure what out rated at. They are all pointed so that there is a wide variety of flow for the different Corals. seems to work good so i haven't changed it.

Nice looking tank! Really like the zoas. How high above the tank is the Apollo led light? What percentage of output are you using?

Anything you are looking to add in the future?
