Default Brittle Star and Linkia Starfish

Last week my brittle star lost a leg-- I don't know where the leg is or how he lost it-- today my Orange linkia has a tip missing and another leg looks mangled-- does anybody have any suggestions as to how this happened? I have a small emerald green crab and a coral banded and a cleaner shrimp (who doesn't clean)--- Also I bout some acropora that seemed to have a very small reddish brown crab that hitchhiked but I only saw him once-- I couldn't get him out-- Other than that I have a convict tang-- Midas blenny-- and a cleaner wrasse-- oh yeah and a maroon clown-- I hitchhiker crab seemed to be about pea sized--

I can't be sure who is causing your brittle star and linkia the damage to their legs, but be assures that these awesome creatures have the ability to grow those appendages back on their own. The little hitchhiker crab most likely isn't the cause. Have you been working in your tank at all....moving rocks around or anything? Sometimes accidents happen where a rock may have fallen on your critter to cause such an injury.
As for your cleaner shrimp, he just may not have any fish in your tank that need cleaning right now. It is fun to watch a tang drive up to a cleaner shrimp just like a car wash! Don't worry, your cleaner shrimp instinctively knows it's job and will do it when it's requested by another fish etc. They also do alot of their work at night. If you'd like to see what goes on in your tank after dark without disturbing your tank, pick up a flashlight that has an alternate red lense. The red lense does not bother your tank inhabitants, but will allow you to look all over your tank and watch some pretty interesting happenings of reef night life. Enjoy your tank!
