I have a large cowrie snail that my LFS said was reef safe. Does anyone know if that is true?
thanks,
Joel
I am mostly sure that is will not be reef safe. I have a few money Cowries in my tank, because I was lead to belive that they really are one of the only reef safe cowries. I think I remember hearing somewhere that there really are no larger reef safe cowries. I hope it wasn't canton FD with you living in Canton

Yeah it was the FD. I live right around the corner from them. Trop is a little further but I feel they may have more knowledge and are very helpfully. Little disappointed about that. I'm fairly new to reef tanks have you had problems with the FD?
I live in between the Canton FD and the Ypsi FD, Trop is abt the same distance from me as it is you. I was at Canton FD a few days ago and saw that huge Cowrie they had, def not reef safe. Besides that, out of the three in our area I would spend the few dollars of extra gas to head out to Ypsi FD, there staff is super knowledgeable and doesn't seem to steer people in the wrong direction. I like the trop and Canton FD but there are a one or two people at each that have told me just rediculious prices for something, or just blantently been wrong about something (and acted like they totally knew what they were talking about as well.). PM sent for further discussion, just curious to hear your side of the story.
I took the snail to the other FD store and told them what I found out and what I was told at the canton store and they immediately said he was not reef safe. They have a great store there...I don't think I'll bother going back to the canton some. We ended up adding a small male maroon clown fish since we already had a large female....they are doing great!
