    Default Money Cowrie

    OK I just got what the lfs said is a money cowrie. I needed something for my hair algae that has exploded since putting in the 250w MH. I have read (after the fact) that cowries eat corals. Is this fact, fiction or sometimes yes and sometimes no? All I have is a sick candy cane, (three months of 30 watt NO fluorescent), but it is starting to recover since adding the new lighting. Do I need to take him (Cowrie) back or will it be ok?

    Thanks.

    From LiveAquaria's website, seems to hold for the crowies in general;

    "Although mainly herbivorous, when it becomes larger, it may try and feed on sponges and soft corals. If there is insufficient algae, its diet should be supplemented with dried seaweed, tablets, and flaked foods that are eaten off of the bottom."
