In looking at that photo Jamie, seeing Zoas and mushrooms fully open at the same light level (some even above) as your Crocea, would make me concerned that it's not getting enough light.

She's been in this same spot for almost 8 months now. (had to read my log to see exactly when I got it) Can you tell from this pic? I did read something that if their lacking light, they'll fully extend and remain like that and may or may not show white spotting on the mantel.

Your clam is definitely fully extended. The fact that it's made it for 8 months is great, but generally speaking - The best environment for your Crocea would not be conducive for your mushrooms and Zoas. I'm sure it would appreciate anything you can do to get it more PAR :cool:

May I ask what you would suggest I do? Seeing I only have a 4x24w t5ho fixture? The ATI coral plus is the highest par t5ho lamp out here. Of which I'm running 1. Looks like I may be rehoming my clam :(

When you have a moment, post a FTS showing your light fixture. 4 T5s can be enough, you just need to try and get it in the area of highest PAR (center tank - high as possible.) A few thoughts,Quote:

Now I'm a little worried :( Upon closer inspection (due to the bristle worms) I picked the clam up and looked underneath. There is some EPO-Putty stuck to the gland at the bass, the thread producing part. I think that's what it is. I tried to gently remove it, but it's stuck fast. I allowed the EPO holder to cure for 24hrs before setting the clam on it though. Will this come off? Have I doomed my clam? How can I help it get this stuff off?
Tom: I no longer have the scallops shell.

Update: Well another reefer sent me a nice big ole clam shell which arrived today and a month ago I orderd a clam stand from InTank LLC. I think the stand is to tall at 5" and so I may have to order the 3" one instead :( What say you all? She's pretty dang high up there. Probably about 4-5" from the water surface. I'm happy that the bristle worms can no longer get to her :) Here's some pics. Looks kind a ugly don't it :(

From an aesthetic perspective, it might look nicer if you just stacked/glued pieces of rock. You could also use a smaller diameter piece of acrylic tube and fill it with rubble-rock - It might provide less distraction to your aquascape.
From a PAR perspective - Great! The more light you can throw at it, the happier it will be. -

I just thought of something! What do you think of attaching the shell to a nice piece of Tonga rock. Have it branching upwards. I could attach the tonga to the rock work using EPO-Putty, then attach the shell to the Tonga same way. LMK.
