So which is it that mows aptasia and which does not? I remember reading years ago that misidentification is the main reason people buy these shrimp and they don't do what they had expected.
Anyone know? Lysmata boggessi or Lysmata wurdemann?

Lysmata wurdemanni is the correct species, some of the other species are not so nice to coral . There are several "imposters", Rhynchocinetes durbanensis will eat coral if given the chance, but they're actually used to eat flatworms off of Acropora and do it very well if applied correctly: http://www.korallen-zucht.de/index.p..._id=52&clang=1

FWIW, I have spotted several different species of these guys being sold as "peppermint shrimp" at LFS in our area Rob.

That explains why the "peppermint shrimp" I got will not eat aptaisia in my tank after starving the tank for a couple days. They never last more than a couple months for me in my tank.
