Default Poor lil guy-dumb owner duh.

Gotta share this. Tonight I put my mag350 back on my tank filled with po4 sponge. When I do this I remove my Koralia 550.

Well I just pulled it out not even thinking there could/would be something attached to it. About 3hrs later as I was putting the pump away I noticed a Astrea snail, laying upside down in the garbage I have next to my tank (used for paper toweling) and is where I set the pump to dry off. I felt horrible! First thing out if my mouth was, I'm sorry! Yes I said it don't laugh. I thought for sure he was dead. I mean come on, he couldn't still be alive.

I held him in the water and he is now grazing once again on his rock.

    Today I saved a snails life-lol

They can be out for awhile. I had a Nerite that would go on the power cord, up and over and out the tank at night.

I typically take a powerhead out of my dt and drop it into the 5g bucket of fresh water to mix the salt. The temp is probably 60 or in the bucket and typically I don't add the salt right away. Like you, I didn't see the snail on the powerhead, so he got a 60 degree in fresh water for about 10 minutes. Then, I added a heater which it took about another 20 minutes for it get to tank temp. When I started adding the fresh saltwater, that's when I noticed the snail in there. Thankfully he survived, but now I always check my powerhead for critters.

A friend of mine bought snails at a swap. He got them first thing they were in a bag dry. Since we all went out to eat after I know those snails didn't get home to his tank till at least 10pm... thats a long time I also know of people shipping them dry so don't feel to bad You are a good owner, very caring!
    Hugs!

I don't know how you can love a snail so much. Ours' are so big now, they constantly knock coral off where it's supposed to be!
