i got some live rock to day this guy guy was on the bottom of the tub what is it and is it safe to put in my tank

Looks like a banded trochus snail to me.

They're fast, attractive, longlived, they can right themselves is they flip over and are very good algae eaters.
The only downside is they can be sorta pricey...

yea he eats al ot of algae 2nd only to my mexicans
