Default cannon power shot s5is

i just got a cannon s5is as a hand me down i was wondering if any one here has had experiance with these and could help me out with getting so close up shots

Assuming thats a Point n Shoot?

Sell it on ebay and get a refurbed SLR

Tripod and a flash diffuser will help
How many MPX is it?

that's the camera i just upgraded from. it's not a bad camera by any means but much better suited for outdoor nature shots. feel free to pm me with any questions or concerns you may have with the cam. i should be able to help a bit.

no this isnt just a point and shoot it is just under the rebel. i have only had point and shoots before and after a few hours of playing around i still find i cant get real close up shots without getting real grainy. basicly i think the camera is smarter than the user

Might just be the megapixel count, or the ISO. Are you shooting in a well lit area?

iso 80-1600 im at 80 , 8 megapixel . and ive tried both bright and shaded places.
