I just picked up a Kodak EasyShare Z710. I like it a lot but am having some problems getting those super close up shots. Is anyone familiar with this camera and able to tell me either what I am doing wrong or if I should return it?

Switch her to macro mode and use a tripod... if they are still jittery, then try, focus in on your subject, set the self timer and step away.
See what kind of results that brings. That was one of the cameras in contention the last time I was shopping for a point and shoot digi.... Only reason I went with the 760 was because it had more settings to play with, but the 10X optical zoom should do you pretty good for other pics... using any zoom with tank pics is generally a crap shoot, requires more ambient light, and the subject must be almost perfectly still.

OK which one of these little pictures is "macro" mode????

OK I tried that and when I zoom in everything gets all blury. I am better with puters than I am with cameras (this is my first digi) and I really stink with puters so any help is appriciated.

Stick that puppy on a tripod and practive practice, and then practice some more.... the closer you can get the lens to the glass the better (touching even). Getting pics of tank living critters is probably the hardest thing to photograph ever. But that's what a digi is for... take 100 pics and keep 3 LOL
If you haven't yet, when you go get a tripod, grab a universal adapter for it to jack in to the wall power... saves wear and tear on the batteries...

I just wounder how you guys get such close ups of a coral when I can't get even close to that zoom. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't the camera.

joe, on your camera does it have the "PMAS" mode?? I have a kodak easy share. I had to ready the intruction manual and do some serious trial and error pics but I think I am getting the hang of it. I took Daves advice and got a tripod and WOW it really helped.
Yeah I have PMAS so I guess I'm gonna have to get a tripod and put my nose in the book. Thanks for all the help. Hopefully I can figure out how to get some good super close pics.

OK I took some pics and some video that I want to upload to the site. But when I go to "manage attachment" and click browse I can't find them anywhere. Anyone with a kodak have any hints???
