yea, sorry about that, this is an issue I'm working on, it's caused by some attached images being wider than they really should be. Got a fix for it that I'll be testing here shortly, the board will automatically resize down attached images to a fixed width so it doesn't do that anymore, been annoying me for a couple of days lately.
BJ.. although I'm sure that your reactor/calcium issues has hindered the growth of your coraline, just having that much in the overflow tells a lot...
There are different types of coraline, as you well know. Some are light loving. Some would rather low lighting. The greens and reds tend to be more forgiving of high spec. The purples grow best in low light. Some of the best LR I bought was from dark(er) tubs in the LFS.
Ask around if any friends have different color morphs... maybe you can seed the tank with a variety, while fixing your calc issues, and have a more robust collection of coraline....just an idea. I have a decent patch of "whorling" coraline in my system that I got "somewhere". I thought it was monti cap growing, but Dr. Ron showed me a LOT of information on the alga..and I found my whorling variety there.

Tell me the secret to your beautiful clean white sand!
I'm sure it's the stellar flow he gets in that system. Look at all that directional hardware.... BJ WILL be a flow guru for me in the near future. My flow @*(#(s
I have just 3 MJ1200 and the Mag7 and I need flow.

I know we certainly could improve on that in our tank. There's many things we'd love to change or make it the ultimate, unfortunatly the wallet says the $$$ can't only go for the tank. Dave and I have to help control each other when it comes to the LFS and catalogs, and that's not easy! lol :)
well i only know one other person around here that has tanks, and i saw his for the first time last night and all i remember are the reds. i dont think he has any green or other colors. i'll see it again so we'll see, and if so i'll get some scrapings from him. as for the clean sand, in this tank i've never really had a problem with my sand turning brown like in past tanks. i do have a fair amount of flow but its not what it could be because of all those elbows in the pvc plumbing. the smaller lines with the gsp's growing on them are from a blueline T3 titanium pump, the knockoff/replacement for csl's titanium pump since they closed down. i plan to in the hopefully near future to cut the pvc off that are replumb from the first elbow with vinyl tubing and add 2 1/2" sea swirls to the rim of my tank. i also plan to upgrade my mag 9.5 return pump to a mag 18, i think. because i used 1" pvc to plumb that the weight of the water combined with the elbows makes the head pressure more than i'd like for the 9.5 to have on it. it has fair flow and i am able to run the pump wide open, but its not quite enough. I've had in my mind to also add a 180* rotation sea swirl in the middle of the tank with 1" lines to replace the rest of that pvc. *breath* lol, anyway, the sand is always fairly clean with the exception of a little detritus that collects from time to time, i just siphon it off the surface of the sand during water changes.
Fixed it now... all images are now scaled down to a max of 400 pixels wide in the posts, but you can click on them to see them full size..... won't be breaking my stylesheets anymore!Quote:
