    Default hosting porcelain crab

Picked up a porcelain crab yesterday. It didn't take it long to move into its new home.

I didn't notice till I got it home that one of its claw was damaged during bagging...but hopefully it will grow back after the next molt.

Previously I had purchased a blue porcelain crab...however learned after getting it, that the blue ones don't host in anemones like the white ones do.

With all the nems I have in the tank, I'm enjoying adding more animals that will interact with them.

The RBTA moved a little last night and I grabbed another nice shot of the crab and anemone this morning. I will post it this evening.

I believe it won't be a problem...even if your clowns decide to host, I think they will share. The crab seems happy just to be near it. Emerald should leave it alone.

Wonder if you have the "blue" ones? They don't host.

From reading seems like crab chases clowns out or try to depending on the clowns most don't share the nem unless its a huge nem but as I said its what I've read not anything I've witnessed.

It's not blue More like a green olive with tiny brown stripes everywhere. Very pretty and I've had it for almost 2yrs. It only comes out at night.

    Jim,
The crab you have is an anenome crab. True porcelain crabs have darker colors with fine stripes, and larger claws. Porcelain crabs usually stay on the undersides of rocks and filter feed. My wholesaler often mislables them, I knew I had a good chance of getting you the right crab.
