i have taken a few photos under my new leds and they are ok but however i cannot capture anything close to an actinic shot every thing is a blinding blue. im using a nikon cool pics L100 if i need to upgrade i understand but its a nice camera and i would like to show you all some of my glow. Any pointers on this
Al I can do is give you what works for me but I have a dslr so it might not help much. I shot in raw format and then open the photos in adobe photoshop. I kick the color temperature more yellow to take some of the blue out of it. I then but the black levels up a bit and drop the exposure down to darken the picture a bit. That works pretty well for me. Check out my pics in my tank thread to see the results.
its rough trying to shoot in the royal blue lights... heck it's enough of a problem attempting to get the "true to life" colors at all when shooting under LEDs.
some one out there should develop a camera for fishtanks, one that will shoot a raw photo and dosen cost 800 dollars,
or i can just save my pennies and quit complaining
Point and Shoot cameras are great for drunk chicks at the bar. They are alright for the quick candid shot of something amusing.
DSLR's are intended to capture images true to life. They are highly specialized pieces of technology designed and built with a single purpose in mind, "Take the best pictures possible."
I desperately want a DSLR. I have a Point and Shoot and it's trash. Sure, I can get decent pictures out of it, but for real quality, I need a DSLR. Nikon has some real interesting entry-level models in the $400-$600 price range.
Think about it like this.. How many Daytona 500's did the Chevrolet Chevette win? None.. Why? because it was not built to be a race car. If you want good pictures reliably, you want a DSLR.
