Default Using floor/wall tiles as frag plugs....

I notice a lot in the selling forums that people use the small 1" tiles as frag plugs. I like this idea because of the price and the weight of the frag plug. My question is... what material are you using? Is travertine limestone? are you using marble? Do I have to worry about any clear coat sealers? Just wondering what people are using.

This was all brought on because I went to home depot today and wasn't sure what would be safe...

I read about this on another forum and was intrigued but never tried it. If i recall correctly it is a white 1"x1" tile that can be found at HD and/or Lowes. It was either marble or limestone and came in 12"x12" sheets attached by a mesh backing. The key is to peel the mesh off and clean the glue off with either rubbing alcohol or a citrus based cleaner.

As a buyer of zoa's that come on these tiles/pluggs I hate them! Their ugly looking in a tank, and as far as placing them in your tank, well it's a pain. I use LR rubble to create polyp bases. They seem to actually like it better. To me anyways.
