Default Lamotte Alk test kit

Used it a minute ago and it is easy to use. It is also pretty obvious when the color changes and it measure in PPM so it is closer to actual alkalinty. It measures the total CACO3 in the water. My reading was 134 ppm when converted it is 7.5DKH. I will test this against the salifert in a second.

Salifert reading was 9.9. That is a pretty big difference. I will test again in a few days with both kits to see if this gap still exist.

Lamotte is a well respected name. Those are the kits I used to test inland lakes as a grad student.

But the real question is which test kit is/was correct? I think you need to buy one of each brand alk test kit and do some consumer reports style review for all of us!

I trust Lamotte and it is worth noting that after you buy the kit you can but refills for less money.

I am changing over to these kits for the things I consider most important. Alk and Nitrate. I have the Hanna meter for PO4.
