A Few Frag Swap Tips for Both Newbies and Veterans
1. Don't Forget Cash. Some Vendors will Take Credit Cards, but Others are Cash Only.
2. Bring a Portable Cooler - to Store the Corals that you Bought In and to Keep them at the Right Temperature.
3. Doors Open at 12:00 Noon and the Show Ends at 5:00 PM
4. Be Aware of How Much Time You Take Talking to a Vendor if what Your Discussing Doesn't Involve Buying Something. Vendors are Very Helpful and Knowledgeable and Most Will Try to Help You, but Please be Conscious of the Fact that Vendors are There to Sell and Not to Explain How to Rid Your Tank of Nuisance Algae (For Example).
Our morning VIP Speaker Session (10:30 am to 11:30 am) features Lou Ekus who will be presenting "Reef Chemistry Demystified". Lou is CEO of Tropic Marin USA and, along with his wife, Leslie, are responsible for all Tropic Marin product support and aquarist assistance in the US and Canada. Lou and Leslie have recently taken on the management of Aquarium Munster USA as well.
Lou has presented at MACNA Conferences and other larger coral shows across the country in the past.
Lou Ekus has been actively involved in the marine aquarium industry for over 22 years. He frequently works with aquarists, helping them with system issues big and small from large public aquariums to 1 gallon nano reefs.
Lou has been a saltwater aquarist most of his life. He designed and built a multi-tank system in his home consisting of a 150 gallon mixed reef tank, a 150 community fish only tank and a 90 gallon predator tank. This system also incorporated a custom lighting and filtration systems all designed and built by Lou.
Lou is an avid saltwater fly fisherman, holds a commercial hot air balloon license and is an antique car enthusiast, taking trips in a 1931 Ford Roadster, named Irma, with Leslie. There’s no telling where the three of them will show up!
This year we have some cool stuff for the kids at the show so they don't get too bored while mom and dad are shopping for corals.
- We have the bounce house obstacle course again this year to help keep the kiddos entertained during the show. This attraction has an attendant to supervised in order to help assure safety.
