IMO, with the amount of softies to sps, begin carbon use(if you haven't, already) and test that mag... you need a good 1350 for stable sps growth. BTW, I use and recommend Salifert test kits.

I think I need to use carbon more, and definatly need to test for Mag and dose if I need to. And yes, I like salifert too. I'll have to go get one. Thanks for the advice all. If you have anything else I'd love to hear it. Thanks.
DO NOT buy a commercial mag dose!!! PM, jfinch for his input on his home remedies.
Why not use a commerical mag dose? I figured the B-IONIC Mag would do a good job? Whats wrong with them?
Yep, I use Kent's Tech-M for boosting my Mag. Works just fine. Best bet is to buy it by the gallon.
Repto, get jfinch here so he can share his 'home remedies' with the rest of us. :)
Reason is not bad quality, but cost... ever look into the use of epsom salts??? Same thing but MUCH less.
I thought I read that epsom salt isn't the best to use for some reason, forget what it is, i'll have to see if I can find it.
That would be awesome... I use it. I was also told that type "S" lime(used in cement mix) was not good either, but have used it for a while now with no ill effects.
Something about the excess sulfate that can accumulate by using magnesium sulfate(epsom salt)
That's it davejnz.
Repto, may be no ill effects showing up for awhile, but when/if they do, then it's a problem. Not saying it will or won't. I'll pay for Tech-M, like $17 for a gallon, not too bad IMO.
