What is going on with my plum crazy. All my parameters are fine and everything in my tank is rocking! My questions is, is this growth or something else? I want to say it's growth because this branch has grew just over 1/4" in a month but then again, its white where it is branching off from the main base but the tip is still purple (the old branch). The polyps are still out, it seems to be happy....
It's just weird because I've never seen that when they grow....they turn white down by the base. Oh and I've had it about 3mths or so?....maybe a tad longer, I can't remember.
Thoughts?
Ok, so here is a crappy pic I snapped on Aug 24th but you can see the small branch
Here are some more crappy pics I took tonight but you can see that it grew quite a bit
Nope, not one person but it is growth. That branch is about an inch long where it was a little nub. I've just never seen white growth at the base, usually it's a blue growth tip. It's still very happy
Lol that wasn't cap that was algae! I bought some lr from another refer who had all kinds of issues, after a couple I was able to get it under control now no algae and nice Coraline on it. Nice growth and the polyps are out everywhere even on the white. I'll take an updated pic
Is that spot shaded, I sure wouldn't say it's dead. If that spot was actually bleached it would run up the branch within a day a two. Some acros have a ton of white when they are growing fast. Just look at some of the pics of red planet when it's growing fast the fast growing branches are almost pure white except for the polyps.
Light color or white in growth areas is quite common and adds a contrasting color which makes the coral more attractive in my opinion. The polyp extension on that part of the coral is a good indication of health.
