For what its worth, I really like the biocube. If I was buying a new all in one, I would look hard at the 39 gallon from Innovative Marine. Not having a sump, saves a lot of hassle for me. Not to mention saves on the monthly electric bill (not pumping against any head pressure). The need for a skimmer may dictate the necessity of a sump. I'm mostly growing weeds and only have a few fish so skimmerless is working out well for me. When I had my 50 going, I figured it was about $40 per month with all the pumps and lights (halide at the time).
