I have a thought!! Is it possible that they could be getting starved out? They don't seem to be melting and they don't disintegrate. They just get real skinny and then they're gone. I have a semi-large colony of implosion palys~another rock of star plays~a 12+ head of Duncan~4 head of candy cane. Also maybe the slime is attaching to those due to they're dieing?

    I just tested the parameters=nitrates .0, nitrites=.0, cal=420, ph=8.0, kh=9, phos=0, sg=1.026, sal=35.

your results look good. rum some chemiclean to get the slime out or start doing some mb7 dosing and im sure itll keep it in check. you can also try and emerald crab. try to move them into a different area. maybe they are getting sand in them and they close because they are trying to clean themselves out?

What fish are in this tank...? Actually what are all of the known inhabitants?

Also, you may want to pick up the frags and spray them with a powerhead to clear off any possible debris that could be causing them to want to stay closed.

And uhmm... check the expiration date of those test kits... I was recently testing with some overly expired kits that said my params were fine... but they were way off...
I will think outside the glassbox.

How long do the kits last. Mine is just over a year old. I'll have to check at the LFS for expiration as I no longer have the original package.

As for tank inhabitants: Tail spot blenny-fire fish-yellow rose prawn/pistol shrimp-tangaroa goby. Total size of all fish 7"
Corals=12+head Duncan-4 head candy cane-2+" favia-15+polyps of radio active dragon eyes-30+colony of green implosion palys-6+frag of green bay packers-15+polyps of no name zoas-soft ball size of star palys.
Dang!! Now that I've written it all down sure seems like a lot for such a small tank, ya think?
Maybe Tom will trade some Rics for my Duncan??

    I've started chemiclean treatment.

How close are the zoas to the other corals placement wise? Some LPS and other corals will send out stingers at night to kill anything other corals that are too close...

As for lifespan of test kits that would depend on the brand.

No where's near any stingers I'm still wondering iffin they're getting enough to eat. What with all the bigger competitors?? I have some phytoplankton but stopped using it as I saw an increase in algae growth.

Any pics of the corals and the red slime? Or a pic with the coral placement of where the corals are not doing so well...?

You never did mention if you are using RO water did you...?
