Its Nanotime!

K reef-fans!!! I've I did it! I drilled my tank. And here's the results...

I made it through!!! No cracks! I switched bits.... And got 95% of the way around, then the glass "coin" for a lack of better terms fell out.... I panicked... come to find out...











NO CRACKS!... SUCCESS!!!!

I finished rounding out the hole and the bulkhead fit right in! Amazing!

right on my man, that is looking fantastic!!!!!! there are some great tanks coming on the forum lately and this is one of them.

Alright, I've got some questions...

Tomorrow, I'm going to try to plumb my CLM...

My local HW stores didnt have black pvc...

- So, can I paint my white stuff black? Is there paint that safe?
- How do you all attach your plumbing to your bulkheads? Screw on? With Teflon tape?

- Sump pieces... Can I Sylicone (sp) two pieces of acrylic together at a corner in an " L " shape? I can't find any weldon locally.

Yup, a krylon spray bomb works just fine (aka spry paint)

Exactly, just be careful not to apply any bending or sideways forces (from side to side) to the bulkhead or glass or it will break and destroy your hard work. Not sure of the best way to explain it, just look at the bulkhead from straight on and you will understand how it will ruin your whole day if you apply pressure to one side or the other... think I still have a few tanks that I destroyed depicting this quite well.

Weld-on, is generally only found at a platics dealer (or order online from USPlastics) but it sounds like you are making a crash chamber, silicone should work okay. Just rough up the areas to be joined with sandpaper (60 grit would work well) This will add a little more surface area for the silicone to adhere to and improve the overall strength of the bond.
