Default AHHHHhh what have you done

Well I came home to a completely white tank. My Wife decided to try and help and poured my 30lb bag Carib Sea Aragamax Sand with out washing/rinsing it first. I let the tank run overnight. The skimmer was freakin nasty but the waters still white. I'm thinking of picking up some cotton for my fluval 404 hoping that it will help clear the water. Also I had just put in my LR. Will this have any damaging effects. I love my wife but arg..

Welcome to the sandstorm, even with rising it several times the effects would have been the same. Nothing to worry over, it will settle in a day or two (or three). Just let your skimmer keeping at it and it will grab the lighter particles, the rest will settle out.

Its inevitable. Mechanical filtration helps, but you'll need to toss that filter media after you're done. Also, when everything is settled, there will be a very fine layer of silt over everything that you can usually suck up during a water change.
