    Sponge I used the Sponge with out problems.

    In my research it seams the biggest cause of Diatoms is hi Phosphate

    Their don't seam to be a good critter to eat it i tried several with out success
    Actually we're finding our trio of sea cukes are doing a tremendous job of cleaning up diatoms and such. When the lights go down they come to the front of the tank and clean the sand back to pure white... it looks so nice in the morning, but towards the end of the photo period it starts turning brown again and the cleaning begins.

    Not really a long term cure for the problem, but it is keeping things in check, that I know the cukes are definately eating good, they are getting HUGE!

    Iv heard Thea do a Farlee good job of it haven't triad them if it comes back may have to try it them.
    So for after using the sponge it has not returned and i run out over 2 month's ago.
