i also have quite a load of aitasia. ive used pikling lime, injecting lemmon juice and i have three pepperment shrimp. they are slowly going away. the lemon juice works fast but im not sure of the ill effects. i ussally do as many as i can with 1/2 ml. the pikling lime made a mess. if possibl, i think a seperate container would be best for the lime (like brian24 said). the peperments eat a few but i was not aware of fasting them, just dumped them in. good luck - i hate those things. i had one get almost 4 inches across.
I have a copperband in one tank and he does awesome. He doesnt go for the really big ones. But I managed to get all the big ones and he does a pretty good job at keeping all the small ones at bay. And in one of my other tanks I have 3 peppermint and they do a great job as well. Either way you go works well. you can also use a Berghi nudibranch. That is all they eat. those little things are machines. the bad thinng about them is that once all the aptaisia is gone your Berghi's will starve.
I'm more prone to the natural methods, too. Although, after you find that your aptasia are axed, you'll need to suppliment feed for some sp or remove them from the system before they starve.
There's nowhere else I'ld rather be... unless, of course, you're buying
definately... which isnt much of a problem... besides, they add a nice touch to your tank even with no aptasia around. I never knew that about the nudibranch. Does anyone know how to keep them alive?
the only thing a berghi will eat is aptasia. I have a friend that is trying to breed them and he literally cannot keep enought aptasia in his tank. he is using a 20 gallon tank to breed them. the first 2 or 3 months was fine because the first broods just barely hatched. he has been into it abou 6 months now and the berghi are starting to decline they are running out of food. they are such poor hunter that they can literally starve if they had to move across a large tank to find new aptasia.
#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Well I got lime juice today and it seems to be working, I also tried the boiled vinigar and water method it seems to work but much slower, Hopefully this well help me with getting rid of them, My fathers tank with all the Aptastia is going to be a challenge, But he wants to tear down that tank and he's giving me all the rock/sand that I want he is also giving me his Metal halides, So I really want this to work out, I'd love to have a great looking tank rid off Aptasia.
