Anybody have a review for this? I've been using brs @ $50 for 5lbs and it's breaking the bank. I can get this mixed bed resin for around $15 a bag if I buy a cubic foot.
Anybody use this resin?

Don't waste your money. Stick with Spectrapure when it comes to RO/DI and you will save money in the long run due to greatly extended life.

Spectrapure custom blends every ounce of resin they sell based on thousands of hours of lab and real world beta testing. Its usually mixed fresh the day it ships and vacuum sealed in mylar bags for freshness.

Why do you want a 5 lb bag? Do you have an exceptionally large system or very bad water? A single 20 oz MaxCap cartridge lasts me almost a year with a 100G/30G sump and a 16G nano system. The SilicaBuster cartridge is still the original one almost two years old now and still 0 TDS.
I have two somewhat large systems that use a lot of water. 200 total volume and 300 total volume. The tds on my well water is 400+ coming in and my R/O takes it down to 15, but that's still pretty dirty. My 2 DI's (one on each RO)gets changed out often and I've been neglecting that part of my routine because of the costs. I figured I'd buy a 50lbs of it and split it with some folks bringing my $50 down to around $20 for a 5lb bag.

You may want to look at replacing your membranes with a higher rejection rate membrane, you are just over 96% rejection. 400-15/400x100=96.25%. A 2% increase in membrane efficiency doubles the life of your DI resin without any other changes. My membrane is averaging 99.35% rejection still after two years of heavy use in Phoenix with a TDS between 500 and 800. Replacing the membrane may be cheaper than frequent DI replacements, I found this to be true myself. My DI life went from 150 gallons per 20 oz cartridge to over 830 gallons on the very first cartridge and its been over 1000 gallons per cartridge ever since. I used to have a off the shelf 75 GPD Dow Filmtec membrane which was giving me 13-15 TDS and now the MaxCap membarne does 3-4 TDS with the same source water so DI lasts much much longer. There really is a difference.
I found it on Spectapure's site. This sounds like a wiser choice, you're right.
I'm also using the 75gpd dow membrane. I switched out the 100gpd that came with the unit and it helped a little, but not like your's.
Thanks,
Tom

The Dow Filmtec 100 GPD is actually a nano filter and not a reverse osmosis membrane so was never intended for drinking water type applications, it does not carry the same NSF certifications as the 75 and below and is only 90% rejection vs 96-98% for the others. It carries a "Pool and Spa Use" designation by the ANSI/NSF.
Make sure you are looking at the sale flyer as all the membranes and resins are on sale at quite a discount. The hand tested and guaranteed membranes are only $40 on sale.

Yes, they are the standard Dow TW-1812-75 configuration.
