Default Changing up the frag farm

Well the little farm is coming along very very nicely. the tubs are stocked full. But the one thing that URKS me is that I constantly have problems witht he grow tubs. I am allways getting a little leak hear or there or a dang snail causes an overflow (which has happened several times).
So the wife and I were cruising around petsmart last night and they had 2 50 gallon tanks that were returned without the hoods. I asked how much they would sell them to me and they said both for 100 bucks. I had the check written before he could change his mind. Also picked up 2 stands also.
I will run each tank with a coralife super skimmer on each tank. I will get away from the sump/fuge. I dont think I need it for just a grow tank. I will also put a Copperbanded butterfly in each tank to take care of aptasia and spaghetti worms and also a small yellow tang to take care of the algae. I think this should work pretty good. I have built shelves out of eggcrate and pvc.
My Frag room allways looks like a bomb went off in there. So this weekend I am pulling out the carpet, putting in new subfloor and laying down linoleum and repainting the entire room. Hopefully when its done it should look like a den/frag room. I am taking pics through out the process. I will keep you posted. I will have the 1st 50 gallon set up and running sunday.
Any thoughts or comments please chime in. oh yeah and each tank will have 2x250 w 14k MH with actinics over them.

We got one of those awesome deals as well. Someone bought a tank online and then returned to the store. They don't keep them in stock so we got it more than half price. Keep those frags growing. I was looking around your store and I'll be hitting you up for stuff in the near future. There's something in particular I've been looking for for awhile... and I see it in your store...whoo hoo!

This just sealed the deal. woke up this morning to an overflowing frag tank. I was having a problem with snails getting in the overflow and clogging which made the tanks overflow. so I built a nifty little grate out of eggcrate and put over the overflow. well this morning I find a damm urchin had lodged himself into one of the overflows (I have a TON of urchins that have came in on live rock over time) so I cannot wait to get away from these tubs!!!!!

any questions on anything to do with remodeling, just shout ... you have my number !! wish i could be there to help with the project, but that would be a LONG drive to work for FRAGS !! lol

i think i would stick WITH the sump/fuge setup !! but i guess it really wouldn't do much for just a grow out tank. man i cant wait to get my new lights from Shad !! these are just the beginning !! shhhhh !!

yeah I have ran my grow tanks in the past without a sump/fuge and have done just fine. there will be hardly any bioload. I will throw a few snails in there and a few hermits. the copperband will work great especially on the spahgetti worms they irritate zoanthids very very bad. and I will try the tang for algae. I am not sure I will keep the tang in there will wait and see. I got the shelving buiilt and installed in the first tank and I think its gonna work great. also rigged a little brace for suspension fragging so will be able to do a lot more of that. I have pics of the process so far. I will keep taking pics so you guys can see how the room transforms. I am actually very excited to get this room put together.
