Default yummy yummy for fish tummy

    Hi reef folks,

I've been reef'n for around 5 or 6 months now and have heard various things regarding good nutrious food and the number of times a day to feed and to feed different types each time. Can I get some advice on what seems to be working well for your fish and corals so my guys remain healthy?

The Trop is one of the best for fish and corals.

i think he was asking what food and methods are best for feeding..... unless you were talking about the food you sell at trop.

I'm feeding Trop food currently once a day and Mysis shrimp at another time the same day. Are there other healthy foods and should I feed three times a day?

Feeding a little bit of food more often than a lot of food once or twice is ideal. However, that is not always practical. So, I would say three times a day is better than twice (as long as you're not overfeeding). As far as other foods... it partially depends on the fish you're feeding.

I feed pelleted foods 1-2 times per day (currently traveling for work so not 100% on the brands... may be Spectrum and Omega something?) as the main food for my clown, goby and tang. I feed frozen (PE mysis, cyclopeeze or Hikari mysis) a 1-5 times a week in the evening. With the either mysis I often soak them in DIY garlic juice and Zoecon (though I plan to try another brand once I'm out of Zoecon). Lastly, feed nori to the tang once or twice a week.

    HTH,
    Tom

I feed 2x daily. It's a small dry wafer type food 2 different colors-I don't know the name but I got it from BeekerBob. Everything in my tank loves it!! Then I spot feed Rod's Complete Reef 2x weekly, they love that even more!

I usually feed 2x daily, with most of it being Spectrum pellets and a little bit of spectrum flake (both at the same time). I mostly feed flake because I like to watch the fish chase 'em around. I don't turn off any pumps while feeding seems ridiculous to me.
I have fed mysis, rods food, arctipods and a few others (and still do) but they are really pretty much treats. I have also seen a regular regiment of frozen make cyano and algae much worse. Keep in mind that the oyster eggs, cyclops and other very small frozen foods don't all get consumed by fish or coral so a fair amount of them add to the bio-load without really feeding the stuff your after.
Now if you have fish that flat out wont eat pellets or flake your a little stuck, you pretty much have to feed some frozen.

I started using those instant ocean cyclops, the ones that are in single serve pouches and come out like a gel that doesn't need to be refrigerated or frozen. They're pretty slick.
