    Default Funky algae I think?

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#I have a white fuzzy looking algae growing on my live rock. It grows on top of the brown algae growing in a couple spots on my live rock. Does anyone know what this is, and is it harmfull. Water tests good, use only RODI water and change 10% every couple of weeks. Took a couple of pictures but it doesn't show up well. Like I said only shows up on the brown algae and another question, what is a good critter to go after the brown algae. I have lots of snails, blue leg and red leg crabs although probally need more. Thanks for your help!!!#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#IMG alt="image file name: 2k82c7c95752.jpg" src="http://www.captivereefing.com/richedit/upload/2k82c7c95752.jpg" border=0#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

Looks like you've got a good looking reef started there... I like the use of PVC to support the rocks off the sandbed. From your description I would have to guess the white stuff is probably a sponge of some sort. Are they growing in any particular shape?

That's some weird looking stuff. I've tried finding an answer for it but have had no luck. The most I've found is a sentence about checking your nitrates when you test your water, as this "stuff" seems to appear in tanks with high nitrates. That makes it sound like an algea of some sort to me. Please follow up on your post if you find out what it is. Looks like information that need to be documented a bit more.
