I wouldn't say it is dying. Just very unhappy. You would know if it was dying, it would turn into a small ball of goo...

Just be sure to do everything slowly, it is the change that hurts them the worst. Their body is full of water, so if the tank water changes it is not the same as their internal fluid. That is why they deflate and inflate themselves, to equalize everything.

I would definately want to keep the clown away from it if it is really roughing it up...

    Best of luck!

turning into a ball of goo is not a sign of dying its a sign of dead sorry to say once its goo it gone to no point of return. you want to stop this before it happens.check those parimeters befor doing another water change buffer as needed ph cal alk ect if you tnitrates and ammonias are in check.

anemonies release waste and expell old saltwater out of thier bodies and refill with new water. this may be what it is doing. it usually takes a couple days to get back to normal after doing this. it takes a couple days because, how would you feel pooping out of your mouth, and it is a kind of stressful time for the anemone. i would just keep an eye on if for a few days and if it gets no better then we can figure out what it is that is bothering it.

    Default Its dead

Thanks for all the good information but it was just to late. It finally detached it self, never opened again and had white cottage cheese like substance on it. My wife and i really liked watching it with our clowns. We are going to let our tank cycle for awhile before we get another one. Any good ideas on something to give my clowns a home?

but it turn to goop?i almost tossed one(in the beginning)chances are if it didnt fall apart when you removed it it wasnt dead.as for letting your tank cycle that may be a good idea anenomes are far to sensetive to be housed ina newly set up tank they cannot withstand the swings in nitrate or ammonia levels.as for housing for your clowns they will be fine without an anenome they do not require each other to live.as for housing if your hoping they will pair off they my still do this in a cave you can also add a small ceramic(clay) pot i have seen many ppl use this method for breeders

i have 2 pink skunk clowns that host in my toadstool leather, 1 even ocassionally hides out in my anthelia colony. so if they feel threatened they may host to almost anything with "tenticles" or long polyps.

thats not true bobby. My are hosting a clam right now. They were hosting a large colony of zo's I moved that to a different tank and moved my clam to the place my zo's were. Now my clowns are hosting the clam. They have already layed eggs on the side. Papa stays at the bottom out side of the clam near the sand and mama stays about a half inch from the top of the mattle what makes me mad is that i have 2 RBTA inches a way from the clam and they wont even look at them.

not all clown species take to all species of anenome its always a hit or miss with them its not uncommon at all for clowns to find other housing preferences even when an enenome is present even if the anenome is a species the clowns may be found in
