I am confused, I was adding marine buffer or baking soda and my kh kept going higher as well as my ph.
Also under the web site filterdirect.com, I have a RO6102dint rodi unit. Please which filters do I need? I ordered filters 1,2,3 (sedimt filter and 2 carbon filters). Do I also need a 6th stage resin filter or simply resin refill bag? Appreciate any help
I have the same RO DI unit. Actually I get a new one every other year because it is "almost" cheaper then replacing the main membrane. It is a little more expensive......but you get ALL of the filters new so in the end it is cheaper then replacing all of them.
I usually have someone who buys my old ones for around $30 so it covers the shipping of my new one.
As for your PH issue, I posted the same thing. Grrrrr What is the dosage per gallon of the pickeling lime or baking soda? I can't remember.
Not trying to hijack this thread, but if Kui lives anyplace close to wisconsin.......Heck NO we don't have any windows open. It's been -40 below zero here!!!! I have an airline in the tank, but that's not exactly "fresh air".
That could be a problem... atmospheric co2 can be a cause of a PH drop. Here's a test: take a cup of water from the tank and take it outside for a minute while agitating the surface, then take it back inside and test the PH in that cup immediately. Do you see a difference?
There's nowhere else I'ld rather be... unless, of course, you're buying
I just bought the new RO/DI unit Dakar is referring to. I saw it on ebay, but dealt with the company directly after doing my research on various units...this IS the best one by far-plus the filter canisters are clear so you can better monitor their wear and tear. You can call the company directly at 714-953-9009 and pick their brain. Ask for a technician...they knew the most. Also, make sure you tell them the water is specifically for your tank; that way they thow in the second DI filter. If the RO/DI unit is used for drinking water, this final 6th stage is different to re-intoroduce some minerals for flavor. Mine was $150, including shipping. I also got an automatic shut-off float for my 10gal container, a hose-adaptor, and a preasure-regulator (anything over 80 could pop the unit, and reduce your water quality). All three extras were a $20 total. They have replacement filters too if you want to price that route.
