    Default RO/DI question

    Ok,
I have a questions for those of you that have experience with RODI systems. For some reason mine CONSTANTLY runs, there is ALWAYS water coming out of the waste line....shouldn't it get full enough at some point to stop itself from running more water through the system? Could the constant waste water be a sign of an air leak? Any guesses? It is a 6 stage system...just like Perpetual98's I think. Any advice would be appreciated...I can't afford to just leave the water running day and night...
...I think my fish just farted.

My guess... auto-shut off is faulty, but dunno for sure.

Not sure what system you have, but I think as soon as perpetual jumps on he'll know as well... I'd have to guess the auto-shut off valve as well as long as there are no water leaks anywhere else on the system... for short term you could cut the water at the source (saddle valve or whatever) to at least not have water running 24x7 until it gets sorted.

Yeah Tyler, you need to add an auto-shut-off valve. When the float-valve in your sump is closed,it shuts the flow coming out of the DI chamber. The waste-water chamber from the RO will continue to flow unless shut off with a valve.I think the valve works by determining the increase in pressure in the line when the float closes and shuts off the supply of source water to the unit.

If ya have a float valve, could be as simple as a bubble and it just needs to be tipped to help move the bubble while the unit is running.

J,the float-valve is in the sump for auto-top-off.I'm prety sure he doen't have an auto shut-off valve though in-line to shutoff the source water to the unit.Without one,the waste water will continue to flow as it is the only exit thats not blocked off.

Right now the unit is set up exactly the same as it was before I changed it from the laundry room to the bathroom....it didn't run non-stop in the laundry room. I haven't hooked it up to the float valve yet becasue I want to make sure that is is working right. When the valve under the sink (to the faucet is on) it constantly runs...when I shut that valve off it obviously stops. There is a "flush valve" on the system that appears to be leaking VERY slightly...I think that might be the problem. All I know is that this non-stop running is a new development since I moved the unit. I wrote an email to the manufacturer for advice...we will see.

If you look at your r.o. is there a little white box next to the membrain with 4 hoses attached to it? If not then you need one it is pressure switch, if there is replace it that will stop it from running all the time. From my understanding you need to replace thse every 1 1/2 to 2 years. They are cheap and brake over time. Hope that helps some.
Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most.

Does someone have a link to what this "little white box" looks like? I don't think I have anything like that. Thanks.
