Default live rock or is it?

I had a 55 gal tank that was overrun with green hair algea. I wound up taking this tank down and just focusing on my larger tank. I had some live rock in the tank which I was going to store until I could sell the tank. I forgot to put water in it, and then the next day I called the LFS and they said that it would be ok to store it without water-that it would kind of hibernate....I'm just wondering if anyone has heard of this or are these things just plain old rocks now?

depending on how long they were out of water and what kind of heat or cold they were in there will be some life left, however there will also be dieoff. in order to use these rocks again you will have to cure them

I agree. Most LR is shipped just sort of damp, sometimes covered in soggy newspaper. But there is a subsequent die off too. I would say that your rock is still mostly live if it is still moist and kept a room temperture. The rocks will start to really stink once the die off starts. I would get it in some salt water or down to the LFS soon before you just have giant pile of stinky died rocks.
