Cool series of pics.... Unless you've ever seen a carrier in person it's tough to actually concieve the tremendous size of those monsters.

I live in Pensacola and this is pretty exciting for area divers and divers all over the world. I believe the flight deck is at 150 feet which is too deep. the tower is at 70 feet a little deeper than they planned.

My question is wouldn't all that metal do a lot of damage??
Does water always taste like salt and poo????

Yea they had to sink it deeper than usual incase it landed on its side, there has to be a minimum of 70ft clearance, and if it would have landed on its side it would have broken that clearance. Its sadly that its so deep, but the superstructer should provide a good community for corals probably down to 100ft, after that you will probably only find wild life. If you want to see another good dive search for the "Spiegal Grove" in Key Largo, awsome wreck and huge too.
55 Gallon. One year old, and looking SUPER.

a few yrs back they retired the ship my father was stationed on in the navy its now part of the reef.i cant remember the name of his ship .but sealife will attach its self to anything .its kinda nice to know that what once was a concidered a weapon is now concidered a home for several of underwater life forms. man forged that metal from the earth this is one way of giving it back
